General Meeting Welcome to Student's Day at the IB!

Due to only four, yes FOUR members showing up for the AGM in May, the Com-mittee has moved to organise a new General Meeting to be held in the Middle Reading Room in Teviot Row, on Thursday 9th October from 19:30 onwards. Items on the Agenda includes: Election of Committee for 2008 – 2009 season, Membership Fees, Tommy Burns Memorial / Tommy Burns Supper 2009 onwards, 25th Anniversary If anyone has any other items for the agenda, could they please contact Niall Hickey at president@hweucsc.net at least seven days prior to the Meeting.

It’s that time of the year again where at the ongoing Freshers Fayres, the Club Reps will be charming in the new recruits by the dozen. So, to welcome our new fresh faced innocent students and introduce them to the ways of the Club, the committee are organizing a soiree in the International Bar and Bistro on October 11th (the next International fixtures day) from 2pm onwards. For any students who come along your name will go into the hat and the winner will receive a free bus and ticket for the Champions League home match against Man Utd and the Hibs game at Parkhead on 25th October! So come on down!!! Drink promos and snacks will be available as well!

Evil triumphs over Good Bingo Queens In The IB - A new low.
Celtic 3 -5 Rangers
Masonic skullduggery and nefarious plotting combine to deprive the HWEUCSC of a deserved triumph over the Dark Side. Despite playing far better football, the beastly Hun in a shocking revisiting of the 80s, took advantage of a pliant match official and questionable Celtic defending to inflict a sore one. In a weekend to forget of course, the following day witnessed an even bigger disaster at Celtic Park. Sadly we are probably to blame. See the Social News section for the tear-stained match report.
The International Bar, Tollcross, Edinburgh.
Home of the HWEUCSC with an excellent range of cocktails, a fine line in haute cuisine, and the occasional lap dance by club stalwart, Paddy Kelliher. If you are passing drop into the pub at 15 Brougham Place and admire Stevie Proudler's extensive range of Bulgarian curses.

Just when you thought you'd seen the deepest, darkest moments of human history in the International Bar, along comes a moment of such unmitigating horror that all else appears trite and trivial. Yes, I'm afraid that after the Phil O'Donnell tribute match at Celtic Park, cocktails were interrupted with the shill demand to get all eyes down. The site of 15 members of the club feverishly examing their bingo coupons is not one that will vanish any time soon.. the horror... the horror..
